Gen 2 - Chapter 9: Baby Daze

Having four babies in the house proved to be a nearly impossible task. I'd thought keeping two happy was hard, but four? Everyone was always near passing out, because they were always unhappy all the time. Once someone took care of one of the babies' needs and went to another baby, the baby they were taking care of before needed something else. Loving, a bottle, a diaper change.. mostly, they all were little attention hogs and constantly wanted to be loved and held. With so many people that cared about babies in the house, they always got their wish, too. The first few months were filled with nothing but baby-care.

Even with the house as stressful as it was, I sometimes found time to sit down and continue writing on 'When in Doubt'. Writing was definitely a nice escape for the few minutes I was able to do it for, but before long I was pulled back into reality by a screaming baby. I would then freeze, my fingers hovering over the keys, and listen to hear if someone else would get it. If the baby stopped crying, I'd continue, but if they kept on I'd save and go to take care of them.

Needless to say, we all existed on coffee. Caffeine was our best friend; especially since none of us found time to socialize with anyone but the babies. Or, in Rhett and Elvira's cases, their co-workers, since they still had to go to work. Even though I loved spending time with our babies, I was kind of jealous of them getting to escape from the constant screaming.
I would have thought that over time, our babies would stop screaming all the time. Nope, it never got better.

But, because of getting a break from the screaming, Rhett and Elvira were a little refreshed and more ready for the babies when they got home, so would immediately set to taking care of them. And us. Rhett would sometimes fix us dinner, and Elvira would feed the babies.

Finally, the time came for Drazen and Dahlia to grow up, and I hate to admit it, but I was excited. Mom and told me how when we would grow up, she would get choked up. I didn't when my twins grew. It made me feel like an awful mother, but this way they could entertain themselves, right? Plus, I was happy to buy them birthday presents, and teach them their necessary life skills, and not to mention I was better with toddlers than infants..
When Drazen grew, I had to stare at him. He looked just like a mini, male version of me - my hair, my eyes, my facial shape.. I could barely see any Elvira in him at all.
After him, Dahlia grew up, and.. I did get choked up that time. She was practically a clone of my Mom, the same curly red-brown hair and everything. The only thing different, that I could see, was that Dahlia was a vampire.

Not too long after Drazen and Dahlia, it was Aeron and Aneirin's turn for a birthday. First up was Aeron, who grew up to look quite a bit like his Daddy, but I could definitely see Katina in him as well.
Then Aneirin grew up, and he was, like Drazen was to me, a complete clone of his Mommy, though he may have had Rhett's jaw shape.
We'd been talking about it for quite a while, but when it actually came time for it, it was hard..
Oh, what am I talking about? We'd all decided that as soon as Aeron and Aneirin were toddlers, Rhett and Katina were going to move out, so all of us could have more babies. Yes, you read that right. All of us, as in I wanted more babies myself. Well, at least one more. But anyway, Katina had already bought them a new apartment, and so after the boys were toddlers, she called up.. and they left. I felt like I was losing part of myself, because I'd lived most of my life with my little brother. And Katina, too, since she'd been around since Feliks was a toddler..
(A/N: Sorry it's so short, but it was either that or make it extremely long to include their next children. And I figured a short update was better than no update, right? My internet wasn't going to handle anything much longer than this anyway, because we have a limit on how much we can do in a day, and it was at 50% when I started this, so it's likely closer to 20% now. Anyway! I spazzed out when Drazen and Dahlia grew up, because they looked so much like Lyric and Sean. And seriously, Dahlia? She is pretty much a clone of Sean, because when she became a teen (yeah, I've played a ways ahead) I tried Sean's hair on her, and she was pretty much identical. Well, sorry the update really wasn't much of anything, but I hope to get a better one out tomorrow!)

Gen 2 - Chapter 8: We're Gonna Need a Bigger House

I loved having Katina in the house. I'd forgotten how nice it was to have a sister around! Elvira just didn't count, she was my wife, and those are two completely different things.
Though, Katina was an odd duck. (Really, right, I mean, that's the oddest shaped duck I've ever seen! Heeehee.) The morning after getting married to Rhett and moving in, instead of doing like most newlyweds and spending the morning just snuggled up to her husband, she got up, got on the computer, got a job in business and then started working from home. I remember Naomi being that way, too, a bit of a workaholic.. and since Katina wasn't a babysitter anymore, she felt she had to get a job. And work at it while her husband was in bed.

See, I preferred to stay in bed with my wife as long as possible and cuddle. And dream of what being a mother was going to be like. What I'd spoil my little ones with, like bikes. I'd never had a bike, but we'd really struggled with money. Of course, we were still struggling with money.. but at least we'd had enough to buy a bed almost identical to Elvira and mine for Rhett and Katina. Though, they decided that they liked our's better and kept it for themselves, so we got their bed. Not that it was any big deal, like I said, it was identical, and you know, it was more the company than the bed that I enjoyed.

It took quite a while before I got up the guts to tell Elvira that we were expecting a baby. Really, what girl would tell her wife immediately that 'oh, guess what, this meddling sorceress or whatever that stalks my family and doesn't age made it so we can conceive, and I'm pregnant with your baby'? Yeah. I was beginning to kind of show, when I finally told her.
We were sitting outside, eating breakfast together (I think I might have preferred her breakfast to mine, even though her's was plasma juice - mine was burnt tofu dog, yuck), among the disgusting dishes. As I was about to take another bite of my tofu dog, I looked over at her when she brought the juice down from her mouth. "Hey, Elvy?"
"Yeah?"
"I have some news.." I hesitated, and she looked over at me with a raised eyebrow, in a 'go on' sort of way. "Well.. have you noticed something weird since you married me? Like, everything you want coming true?"
".. now that you mention it, yeah."
"Okay, good. Have you met Estiu Calent?"
"Yeah, when she first moved in. She's weird.. she's not a vampire, but she still looks the same as she did when she moved in."
"She's some sort of sorceress or witch or something, and she cast a spell on my Mom. Her and the next six generations after her of Parodis and their spouses will get whatever they want if they just wish it, and the heir or heiress has it much stronger than the rest of the family. I'm the heiress, and I have to produce kids to continue or some big consequences will happen to my family. Somehow, she made it so we can have babies.."
She just stared at me silently, until I heard some sizzling. Oh shoot, we were outside. In the daylight. My eyes widened, and I decided I should just spit it out so she could get inside. "I'm pregnant! Now go inside before you become ash."
She did as I asked, seeming rather in shock. Who wouldn't be, though, honestly?

After I was done with my breakfast, I sighed and gathered up all of the dirty dishes outside, wondering what Elvira was thinking. Was she excited? Was she angry? Was she even really thinking about it? I had no idea. As I put the last dish in the pile, I suddenly heard our backdoor slam open, and feet padding out quickly. I turned around just in time to see.. Katina empty the contents of her stomach onto the bricks.
"Hm. We're gonna need a bigger house," I commented, partially to her and partially to myself.
When she was done, she groaned and sat up straight, wiping at her mouth, before looking over at me. "What?"
I shrugged and beamed. "Well, I dunno for sure because I didn't really have it myself, but I think you have morning sickness."
Her eyes bugged out. "Really?! Oh, you're probably right..! I hope so! I want five kids."
Whooooa there, five? We were REALLY gonna need a bigger house. Or for her and Rhett to move out.
"Wow. Five? That's.. a very large number. Probably not gonna happen while you guys are living with Elvy and me."
"Why not?" she looked over, and finally seemed to notice my baby bump. Her eyes regained their buggy state. But then she beamed, which surprised me. "Oooooh! Yay! We get to be pregnant together! Poor Rhett and Elvira, though. Heheheh."
Yeah, poor them. Two preggos in the same house.. well, if she was pregnant, that is. We still didn't know for sure.

One thing I really wasn't a fan of with having our bedroom also our kitchen and our study. And everything else besides the bathroom. Having fun with my wife was basically impossible when Katina and Rhett were busy doing things like practicing writing and working out (for ten hours - what on earth was Rhett thinking?).
But, that's where the elevator came in - it was a very handy little device, wasn't it?

Pretty soon, I got used to my bulging belly. It amazed me how fast I'd grown, but what amazed me even more was how.. obsessed Elvy became with my pregnancy after our talk. When she finally notice how big I was become, it was like it became real for her and she was excited to be a mother again. To someone she was actually married to this time. All she wanted to do anymore was read pregnancy books, buy cribs, buy high chairs, buy toys, and talk to/listen to/feel my tummy. I'd never seen someone so.. obsessed before, and often times to get away from her cooing and such, I would just plop myself down and start writing. While I was pregnant, I started a new book, 'When in Doubt'. It was a drama, because I was pretty good at those.
Katina still hadn't told Rhett, but we both knew she was pregnant by the way she kept getting sick and then would be craving food right after. Often, she'd go swimming to try and figure out how to break the news to her husband. Rhett would never figure it out by himself, even when she was nine months along, so she knew she'd have to tell him.

One of those days where Katina was swimming and I was writing, Estiu came by for a visit. I didn't even look up as she walked in, and looked over at me.
"I see you're finally continuing your mother's 'legacy'."
"Yeah, with absolutely no help from you, am I right?"
"Of course not, why would you think I helped you?"
"Oh, I dunno. Maybe the fact I'm married to a girl, and have only ever woohooed with a girl."
"Mmm. I guess that is a good clue in. How is your sister-in-law's pregnancy going?"
"Fine. She mostly swims, though. She hasn't told Rhett yet, but she's going to soon."
The rest of our conversation was pretty much the same sort of thing, her checking up on everything. Mostly me.
Oh, by the way, I didn't mention that I wanted a girl, and Elvira wanted a boy. Now I did.

Our baby was going to be spoiled, I could just tell by how much we both kept loving on my belly. I was so excited about being a mother, and I think Elvy was, too. She'd even gone out and bought every single toddler book in the bookstore.
"Elvy! How did you even AFFORD all of these?"
"With two people working, three celebrities, and two people getting maternity money, we have plenty of money, Lyr. Plus, anything for our little one!"

Finally, Katina did find out for sure that she was pregnant, and told Rhett. It was like it kick-started his maidly tendencies again, and he immediately started cleaning everything like he did before either of us were married. I often wondered if he was a closet neat freak, with how much he cleaned, but this time it made sense at least. If there were gonna be new babies around, it would be healthier for them if things were clean. Of course, we were planning on moving, so it wouldn't really matter too much, would it? I didn't say anything, though, we weren't moving yet!

Rhett was obsessed with our baby bumps in his own way. And that way being he took multiple pictures of them. "Rhett, I'm half naked, stop taking pictures of my belly!"
"But I need to document it!"
"It's barely even a bump yet!"
"Fine, I'll go take a picture of Lyric's."
"Don't you even- Rhett stop it!"

The day I went into labor was pretty uneventful, until later that night. I made dinner - peanut butter and jelly - and while Katina and Elvy were inside, Rhett and I were eating outside. I decided to finally bring up the subject of a new house. "Rhett.. we need to move as soon as I have this baby."
"Why?" he mumbled around a mouthful of bread, peanut butter, and jelly. Yuck. I may have realized why I ended up wanting to spend my life with a girl instead of a guy despite guys still being hot to me.
"Because, Rhett, think. Katina and I are both pregnant. We barely have enough for our double beds, and definitely don't have enough room for two cribs."
"Oh.." he swallowed his bite, and looked at me. "So I guess we should start looking for a new house.."
"Too late, I already found one. I was just telling you." I beamed at him, before getting up and starting to head inside.

Before I even got to the door, the worst pain I'd ever felt jolted through my belly. "AAAUGH!" I screamed, and grabbed at my stomach, doubling over slightly. Inside, Elvy didn't hear me, because she had been busy practicing a speech, but at the time was working out. I needed her, I needed her, I needed her! Why couldn't she hear me?! Rhett was no help at all, he jumped up from the table, and stared at me at first. "Lyric, what's wrong?!"
"WHAT do you THINK is wrong you DUNCE?!" I gotta admit, a long string of expletives escaped me. Thankfully, the pain wasn't constant, but I knew that as fast as they were coming together, I wasn't gonna be able to get to the hospital. Plus, I'd always been a fan of home-birth, though I really debated getting Rhett to take me to the hospital.

After she finished exercising, Elvy still didn't hear my cries of pain, and went into the bathroom, where Katina was, to chat with her. But as they were chatting, she suddenly felt the sparkles of old age creep up on her. While she was experiencing the sparkles of old age..

I was experiencing the sparkles of birth! I finally got to see my.. little boy, Drazen! A while back, Elvy and I had talked about what we were going to name the baby if it was a boy or a girl. After I had Drazen, though, I felt another contraction, and realized I was having another twins. After Drazen came Dahlia - both adorable little vampires like their Mommy, Elvira. I was so excited! Except, that meant we really really needed to move.. pretty much immediately. We really didn't have enough room for two babies at once. We'd bought a crib and managed to fit it as long as we put the martial arts equipment in storage, but two wouldn't fit.

When I took the twins inside and gave Dahlia to Elvy and told her we needed to move that night, she immediately called up the agent that was selling the house and made the arrangements. We were all able to move only a couple of hours later, and we did so quickly. We were all getting tired and grumpy, especially the twins.

When we got to our new home, the first thing the twins did was start crying, so I quickly snuggled Drazen. "Shhh, shhh, honey, it's okay.. we're home now, and you and your sister are gonna grow up in this house."
"Lyriiiiic, I don't know what to do!" I heard Elvira whine behind me, and I looked back at her and the crying Dahlia.
"Yes you do. You raised Earnest, didn't you?"
"Vladimir did more than I did.."
I sighed. I'd helped a little with Feliks, so I new a little about babies, though I was waaaay better with toddlers than infants. I was super nervous myself, but I had to listen to my motherly instincts or I'd get nowhere. "Just do like I did, and snuggle her. They're used to being in a tighter space, you know? The world's way bigger out here than it is in here." At that, I pointed to my tummy. "So.. she's lonely, being separated from her brother, and wants closeness."
"Like.. like this?" she asked, and snuggled Dahlia like I did. The little bundle of red quieted down for a moment, and I smiled, nodding. "Yeah, like that. Now, let's go find their room and our room. I'm exhausted."

...

...
...

Didja think I'd leave it there? Naaaaaah. You needa see Katina and Rhett's babies first!

All of us didn't even have to grow to like the house, we all adored it immediately. One word: privacy. Oh yeeeeeah.
And Rhett also liked it because when he had to go to work early, he could just nap on the couch until his phone alarm went off, so that when he got up to go to work he didn't have to disturb Katina, since she really needed her sleep. Being pregnant and all. And cranky. She was a little cranky while pregnant. And I wasn't at all. Nope. Never. And I am not a liar. I swear!

Several months passed, and Katina got bigger and bigger and Drazen and Dahlia got more and more fussy. I spent almost all of my time in their room, because Elvy was usually either asleep or at work. I was really beginning to see her evil side, because she never offered to help, because she was always 'too tired'. I kind of resented her a little bit, because I was tired, too! In fact more often than not, I found myself passing out between taking care of the twins. Feed one, pass out, feed the other, pass out, snuggle one, pass out, snuggle the other..

Katina, though.. Katina was a life saver. She didn't help at first for quite a while, because Rhett wanted her to rest as much as possible, and Elvy, Drazen, Dahlia and I lived downstairs so he didn't want her to have to go down two flights of stairs (they were upstairs, so we all had to go up or down stairs to get to the living room and kitchen). But she finally told him to stop worrying so much, and came downstairs, telling me to go to bed. I very willingly did as was told, and she took care of my little angels.

But of course, that's what she was doing when she went into labor. Rhett was still at work, Elvira had just gotten home, I was sleeping, and Katina was just going up to get a bite to eat after taking care of the twins, when it happened.
Elvy was shocked and panicked when she came downstairs to see her sister in law having a baby right in front of her. "Oh, I'm so hungry, why'd it have to happen now.." Katina moaned to Elvira, though she was a little too busy freaking out to notice. Funny how both Katina and I didn't have our own spouse around when we went into labor, but had each other's spouse there instead. Hah..
Well, finally, little Aeron decided to come into the world, a healthy baby boy. But then, like me, another one wanted out, and somehow Katina got herself upstairs to put Aeron in his crib, before giving birth to another little boy, Aneirin.
Our house was going to get seriously hectic.

(A/N: Yeeeeah, right through here was when my game started crashing a lot. It crashed about.. three times throughout the entirety of this chapter, though all the pictures I have actually happened. My game was obsessed with the baby boys loving pink though, both times when the babies were born, Drazen's favorite color was pink and Aneirin's was hot pink. The thing that annoyed me the most about the crashing at this time, was that I built them a huge, gorgeous house when I had them move out. And then I lost it, so the next day when I had them move, I just put down one of the pre-made houses and gave it a basement. Didn't even design it, and still haven't. So anyway, traits for the little ones! Drazen: clumsy and perceptive. Dahlia: good and genius. Aeron: good and insane. Aneirin: easily impressed and athletic.)
