Gen 1 - Chapter Ten: Music and Lyrics

When we got home from Buster's old place, we told Naomi the happy news.
"What!?" she exclaimed happily, excitedly. "You and Daddy are married?! Yaaaaay! We have the whole family in the house now!"
"Yes we do, honey! Now get to bed, you've had a long day."
Actually, we had all had a long day, and I was really looking forward to going to bed, myself.

I cannot tell you how good it felt to go to bed as Mr. and Mrs. Parodi - yeah, he decided that since he never got up the guts to even ask me to be his girlfriend, he should take my last name. I tried to protest, but then he told me that he liked my name better anyway - who'd want a last name that called you Round?
But like I was saying, going to sleep in the same bed as my husband.. it was wonderful, and I hoped we'd get a long time together, despite the fact that he'd recently turned 90. How was that even possible?! Where had the time gone..?

The next day was the girls' first day of school, and Buster had to go to work. I.. slept all day, to be perfectly honest. Not having toddlers around the house made it so I could, and I took advantage of my first full sleep in years. When I finally woke up, the girls had just gotten home from school - Dee got straight into bed, and Naomi got straight to her homework. "I wanna get good grades." she told me simply, and beamed at me, then got back to her homework. It shocked me - she didn't complain or anything about it. Sure, she didn't seem to like it much, but.. wow. I know my jaw was dropped for at least a minute. I was exactly the opposite of her, I hated everything about school and only did it because I had to. The same as my Dad, he'd just dropped out of school because he was bored with it. Then here was my little girl, working diligently to get good grades.. I guess I'd been raising them right after all.

When Buster got home, I was just taking something out to the trash chute, and I blinked in surprise as I saw him stumble out of the elevator that had tried to eat him. "Sean! I got a promotion!"
I gasped, and then grinned, clasping my hands happily. "A promotion?! Congratulations! You've been working so hard for it, you deserve it, honey."
Still holding the elevator doors open with a leg, he then grabbed my wrist and pulled me into the elevator. "We should celebrate.." he purred slightly, amazingly sexy for being so.. well... old. My heart started beating faster, and I just kind of stared at him.
"Oh? And how do you suggest?" Silly question.

After our little celebration, Buster went straight to bed - my poor family were all so tired all the time, and no wonder. Who could sleep restfully in the cheap beds and sheets we had?
I wasn't tired, though. I was hungry, so I fixed myself some macaroni and cheese - I'm not the best cook in the world, but I can make that. I'd finally kind of mastered boiling milk. Seriously, boiling milk had been my worst enemy in cooking since I was in my late teens. It was so difficult to figure out!

The next morning, Naomi really thought that Dee should have done her homework instead of playing dolls. "Dee, don't you wanna get good grades?"
"Yeah, but I can do it at school. School is for school time and home is for home time. Not the other way around!"
"That's not how it works, Deirdre!"
"Don't call me that!"
The girls loved each other to death, but siblings are still siblings.

As the girls left for school, I told Buster about my wish to have another baby. He eagerly agreed that another one more would make it perfect (I didn't tell him that I'd always wanted at least four, especially after that dream..), and we got right on that, quick before we had to go to work.

Almost as soon as we were done, we heard Buster's carpool honk downstairs (that still amazes me). "Love you." he said, and gave me a quick 'see you when you get to work' kiss, then got dressed.
"Love you, too. See you at work." I replied, and smiled, then got out of bed to get dressed, myself. My carpool comes a while after Buster's, so I had time yet before I had to head to work.
When it was getting close to time to go, I went into the hallway to wait for the man eating elevator. Have I mentioned that I couldn't stop staring at my wedding ring? I couldn't believe that I was finally married. My entire childhood, literally the only thing I always dreamed of was getting married and having kids. Now it had happened. Amazing..

--------------------

Several months later, the Dee and Naomi decided that they didn't want to go straight home, so got off the bus about halfway home, and Dee called me. "Hey Mommy?"
"Yes sweety?"
"Naomi and I wanna go fishing.. is that okay?"
"Oh.. yes, that's fine. Just stick together, and don't t-"
"Don't talk to strangers, don't cross the road without looking both ways, don't do a lot of stupid stuff. We know, mommy. I love you! So does Nao."
"I love you two, too. Be careful, okay? I don't know what I would do if anything happened to you."
"We know, Mommy, see you later!" Click. I sighed and hung up the phone, worried, but I knew they were good girls. They knew what to do to keep out of trouble.
Meanwhile, Dee and Naomi (they told me what happened later) headed off to Smuggler's Cove, and got to fishing. They fished until it was dark, chatting.
"Hey, Naomi, I'm hungry. Like really hungry. Can we go home soon?"
"Dee, don't be a big baby. I'm tired, do you hear me complaining? No."
"But it's dark, and Mommy doesn't like us to stay out after da- Hey! H-hey, I'm getting a tug!" Dee started to reel in as if her life depended on it, and out came.. a minnow. "Look, Naomi, I got a fish, I got a fish!"
Naomi made a face and looked over at Deidre. "That's not fair! You thief, I was gonna catch that fish." She joked, before sighing and reeling her bait in. "I guess you're right, though. We should go home before Mommy gets too worried.."

At home, I was getting sick. I had been getting sick all the time for the last little while, and I was almost positive I knew why. Buster had handled the news a lot better than he had last time, and in fact he seemed very excited. "I want another little girl!" he exclaimed, and with a grin, then went to fix dinner for our twins when they got home.
I didn't tell him, but I kinda wanted a boy. Two more boys, actually. Oh, I would love another girl, little girls are so much fun to buy for, but.. I'd always wanted two girls, two boys. Perfectly even so they could play together. As my wonderful husband (will never get tired of the ring of that) went to make some autumn salad, I went to bed.

When they got home, Naomi went straight to homework - such a studious girl! - and Deirdre had dinner, then started to get ready for bed. "Dee! You really know you needa do your homework." Naomi nagged her, glancing up from her homework long enough to glare at her several-minutes-older sister.
Dee just looked up at her sister as she hopped off the chair, and yawned largely. "Not doing it is better than doing it when I'm exhausted and getting bad grades, right?"
"Not really."
"I can do it in the morning." That was her usual excuse, she never usually did. I really needed to nag her about that.

The next morning, Naomi was the first one up - after me - and I decided to strike up a conversation with her. It had been too long since I had just.. spent some time with my girls. Ever since I'd gotten married to Buster, my time was split between him and my want for another baby, and work. Mostly work, it seemed like though. But now that I was pregnant, I would have more time at home with my girls.
We had a very nice conversation, that ended in me telling her that I was pregnant. "What?!" she asked excitedly, eyes wide, a grin on her face. "Another brother or sister? Oh I hope it's a sister, I like sisters Mommy!" she exclaimed, and I laughed, leaning down to hug her.
"We'll see. Maybe if it's a little sister, you can help me buy little baby girl clothes for her?"
"Yeeeeah! You know what would be really cool?"
"What's that, honey?"
"Triplets!"
"No. No, honey. At least not until you and your sister are old enough to help out."

I got maternity leave, because I'd found out I was indeed pregnant again, and found that maternity leave could be quite boring. Last time I'd been so focused on the fact that I was pregnant I didn't really notice being bored, but this time I was more used to the idea, and so got bored more easily. So I found ways to occupy my days. Mostly, I played piano.

A while later, my agent asked me to go dance for a while at Aquarius. What was he thinking? I was heavily pregnant. But I did it anyway, though I danced cautiously. Nothing too.. extreme. Everything turned out fine, and I got paid for my efforts, then headed home and hopped right into bed.

Amazingly, Naomi was finally getting Dee to do her homework! I had to thank her for that.

You notice how fast time goes when your life settles into a wonderful routine? The time had passed so quickly, the next thing I knew I was huge. I was due any day, and still finding pretty much anything I could do to entertain myself, even when Buster was home. He was always busying himself with tidying up, work, and preparing for the new baby, we never really hung out. So one day, I headed out into the hall and started to play on our guitar. Not long after, Buster joined me in the hall, and listened to me play.
But I was interrupted by a sharp pain, and I would say that I nearly dropped the guitar, but I didn't just nearly. It caught me so off guard that I gasped and dropped the poor instrument on the ground, doubling up in pain. "Aaaah-!"
"Sean?! Sean, honey are you.."
"I'm going into labor, Buster, and it's - HOLY SHOOT - it's.. it's coming too fast and too strong, I can't.. haaaaaa, I need to get inside now!"
"What about the hospital?!"
"NO TIME!"

I got inside, but barely. The girls freaked out when I started screaming, not knowing what was going on. "It's okay girls, it's just - AAAAH - your baby brother or sister!" That didn't seem to reassure them. I hated seeing them panic like that, especially because of me, but there was nothing I could do. Before I could say anything else, the baby came. A beautiful little baby girl showed her face for the first time, and I was immediately happy that she was a girl. When Buster came in, I glanced over at him, and he was shocked the baby was already here. "Name?" I asked a little weakly - giving birth is hard work. He stuttered for a moment, then smiled.
"It should have something to do with music, since we met through music."
"I love that idea. How about.. Lyric?"
He beamed brightly at that, and moved forward, stroking our baby girl's hair. "I love that name. Lyric Parodi."
Then a sweet voice cut into our naming of our baby, "I know what I wanna do when I grow up!" Buster and I turned and looked at Dee in curiosity, and she beamed at us. "I wanna be a doctor so I can help deliver babies! That was amazing!"
"If you wanna be a doctor, you have to do your homework." Naomi said, blowing a raspberry at her sister.

(A/N: I was happy that Lyric was a single birth, but at the same time I'd hoped for more twins, haha. Glutton for punishment, I guess. So anyway, Lyric's traits are virtuoso and friendly, and the virtuoso is the main reason I named her Lyric! It was really cool, when Sean had the baby, Dee rolled the 'World Renowned Surgeon' LTW. So anyway, this chapter wasn't the longest ever and was a little rushed, but I wrote half of it yesterday when I was rushed. I hope you enjoy it though!)

Aw, how sweet, another little girl in the family! I like her name too. I think it's really cool how the kiddos will roll LTWs according to something happening in their life, I had another sim of mine from a long time ago roll the wish for LTW after watching her mom give birth too. So cool!
